BT Telephone ADSL Broadband Faceplate Filter Adaptor (Centralised Filter/Splitter) - fits front panel of BT NTE5a / NTE5 b Master Socket - IMPROVES BROADBAND SPEED & RELIABILITY* - made in UK (As fitted by BT)

A faceplate filter/splitter of the type installed by the BT engineer for an installed ADSL service. IMPROVES BROADBAND SPEED AND RELIABILITY* (*although not guaranteed to be any different) It replaces the lower half of the BT NTE5a or NTE5b master socket and provides two outlets on the faceplate, one is an RJ11 socket (wired "straight through", unfiltered) for the connection of ADSL modems, the other is a BT 431A socket which is filtered for the connection of telephony equipment. A 3-way IDC connector on the rear also provides a filtered output to any extension sockets (new 6 way are also available). This unit is ideal if you have one computer within reasonable distance of the master socket, if all the other sockets are for telephony use you don't need microfilters at each outlet. DO NOT PUT ADDITIONAL FILTERS ON EXTENSIONS * Tested by BT to SIN issue 2.2 * Compatible with caller display (doesn't strip out the caller ID information) * CE marked - BS EN55022 * Moulded from VO rated material colour matched to BT 1P white * Dimensions (HxWxD): 68x84x30mm (excluding protruding connector plug) Note: The NTE5 master socket is the type that when the lower half is un-plugged, it isolates the BT network side from the subscriber. Any ADSL modems connected to the filtered output, either via the socket on the front or connected into hardwired extension sockets wired from the rear, will not function from these filtered outputs. Ex-Pro 5m Telephone cord cable lead RJ11 to BT Plug, suitable for Sky box connection - White. [Crossed 6P4C]

This cable is 6P4C (6 Pin BT style plug - 4 wires connnected). There are 2 pin, 4 pin and 6 pin cables, both straight and crossed. [THIS CABLE IS 4 PIN - 4 CABLE - CROSSED] If you are replacing a cable check your original cable for the number of gold pins, both on the BT plug END and the RJ11 (clear) plug END. Most devices will use a straight cable (See our other listings search "Ex-Pro Straight Telephone"), but some use a crossed cable which may be detailed within the user manual in which case it's this cable you are looking at which is required. Sky boxes use a crossover cable.

Brand New BT I-Plate - Interstitial Plate - ADSL

Solwise Description - Standard domestic telephone wiring uses three wires to carry the signal between the master socket and the extensions. Two of these wires come from the outside and are connected directly to your local telephone exchange. The third wire is generated in your master socket and carries the 'bell' signal which is used to ring some old-fashioned telephones when someone calls you. If you have an ADSL service with each phone connected to a micro-filter then the bell-wire is completely redundant since a bell signal is generated in each micro-filter for the few phones which still need it. Now, unfortunately, this bell-wire tends to cause some degradation to the ADSL signal as it travels about your house. The Solwise solution to this problem would be to detach the front section of your master socket and disconnect the bell-wire(s) (from pin 3) and re-fit the faceplate. The BT solution is called the iPlate! This device places a filter on the bell-wire (which remember is not required!). (The best solution for ADSL wiring is based on a centralised master faceplate splitter such as our ADSL-NTEFACE models, please consider this option if you have ADSL signal quality issues.)
